I’m a bit late for Chanukah, but right on time for this Christmas post. Pomona Wellness wants to wish happy holidays to everyone. Regardless of what you celebrate or believe, I hope you have a wonderful season. If I am late celebrating your sacred tradition, please forgive me, and I hope your celebration was wonderful. If I’m early, may your celebration fill your heart with joy and love. May we all be so blessed and lucky to be surrounded by people we love on our most cherished days.
I would be remiss if I didn’t send my love, hope, and prayers to those struggling this season in war-torn places like Gaza, Congo, Sudan, Darfur, Yemen, China, Ukraine, and all the other places no longer “worthy” of news coverage. There are too many to name and I hope one day in my lifetime, there will be a time where we don’t confuse the sheer amount of genocides and daily mass shootings. It may sound dark to speak of such things on this holiday, but one of our values at Pomona Wellness, is to give voice to those who have no voice. We cannot celebrate and appreciate the light, without the dark.
I write this from the safety and comfort of my home, where I have electricity and clean water. I have healthy fruit trees in my yard and all my loved ones are presently safe. These feel like some of the greatest gifts, right now. I’m so grateful for the smallest things, which we easily take for granted. This letter isn’t intended to be a downer, though. It’s about hope, gratitude, and growth.
As I reflect on this season, I have so much to be thankful and grateful for. I’m so lucky to work at this company I created, following my own dream of helping others heal. I’m grateful for the support of my family and loved ones, as I set forth on this journey to create deep connections with people on their health journey. Pinch me, I’m dreaming, because I get to work with some of the most brave, inspiring, and incredible people – my clients. I learn so much from you all and I’m reminded of your resilience, constantly.
My clients have given me some of the greatest gifts. They remind me that nobody knows the personal struggles we face everyday, no matter how we appear on the outside. They remind me how listening to someone can be one of the greatest gifts we can give each other. My clients keep me grounded, humble and constantly learning, for which I’m so thankful. These amazing people I have the privilege of working with remind me, through their own behaviors, that we can do hard things. We can do things we never thought possible and become the transformation in our own lives. Each and every one is amazing and truly so badass. I hope you see what I can see in all of you.
Holidays aren’t always merry and bright for everyone. If these days are hard for you, I also see you. May you never forget how very important and how loved you are. I hope the love and warmth behind these brief typed words brings you comfort.
I have so many wishes for you all and I hope you won’t mind me sharing them, on the heels of the Winter Solstice. These are the cycles I’m welcoming into the world, this season. I invite you to take one or all with you, as a tiny gift from me. My wish for you is that…
- Your heart is full of love
- Your stomach is full of nurturing foods that make your body happy
- Your thoughts speak lovingly and gently to you, and about you
- Your home is safe and cozy – your sanctuary
- The people you surround yourself with make you feel better about and help you grow
- You are your own hype person
- You have friends and loved ones that are also your hype people
- You are healthy, even if healthy doesn’t like what society tells us it “should” look like
- You find joy in unexpected places
- You never forget how absolutely amazing, wonderful, and magnificent you are.
May you all have a blessed Christmas, Winter Solstice, and Happy New Year. I hope to see you in 20204, as we plan so many incredible things here at Pomona Wellness. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
